Do you feel stressed?

In the process of researching a new business idea, I’ve been talking to a lot of people recently and the vast majority of them have been telling me that they’re stressed.

Stressed about too much work, stressed about not enough time, stressed about the pressures of home, stressed about finances, stressed about their careers, stressed about their children getting into good schools….

I wanted to share a few tips that have helped me over the years when stress started controlling my life. I think that stress is friction, like when tectonic plates collide, and their collision result in earthquakes.

Stress can be a sign of imbalance between the different areas of our lives, such as career, finances, health, family and friends, intimate relationships, personal development and growth, spirituality and religion, community and service and one that often gets forgotten…fun!

Our bodies crave to go to the gym, rest more, eat healthier, but the demands of life shun these cravings away. Our hearts crave love and connection but deeply rooted beliefs condition us against them. Our spirits crave to create but here, again, mental beliefs sometimes limit us.

Stress is not always bad. Some stress gets us moving, and sometimes stress can be an indicator of what we deeply care about. But too much stress can be paralyzing. Stress disconnects us—from ourselves and the world. And the more stressed we are, the less able we are to step back, take a deep breath, asses the current situation for what it is, and act rather than react.

When my own stress levels get too high—especially when dealing with deep emotional issues or launching businesses—some tools help me cope:

Going for a walk or engaging in other physical exercise.

Getting a good night sleep or taking a nap.

Breathing exercises that emphasize slow, deep, abdominal breaths.

Learning to cope with stress is good. But when stress gets too high, it might also be time to use it as ally to help look within and see which components of our self and life might need to be rebalanced.

If you think it’s time for a serious look at how to manage your stress and rebalance your life, please schedule ( some time for us to chat about your needs and how I can help you.
